Artist Statement
My work is about the body as a vessel for the spirit and a vehicle for navigating the world. Serene faces suggest peace and acceptance; closed eyes gaze inward. The varied surfaces I employ illustrate the importance of personal style and individuality.
A carved Styrofoam core determines the shape and essence of each piece. As in life, layers are added-protecting and defining. Materials including papier mache and air-drying clay give me flexibility and control over the surfaces of my work. Patina is achieved with acrylic paint and wax. UPCOMING SHOWS
