                                                                  Picture
My pieces are inspired by exposure to beautiful and intriguing examples of indigenous cultures from both my travels and study.  I try to honor the culture with a somewhat realistic form and/or appropriate color.

Combined with a delight in fabric and textural embellishment, my dolls are material driven.  I begin with drawings, which I then translate into a two or three-dimensional form.  I love dance and movement which finds it's way into my work.

All in all, it is a very personal and experimental, but joyful process.

                                                                  BIO
I have loved dolls as a child. Several years ago I started doing doll repair, at the same time I was collecting antique (paper mache) dolls. As a person drawing the human form, it was a natural transition to making my own dolls. I began this process about four years ago.

I have been trying to go from the three-dimensional to the two-dimensional format and yet incorporating the human and ethnic expression.  I love texture and lately have been using paper, wire, stones and clay. My dolls began with a traditional influence and went from Inuit and Mayan Indian to the Zuni culture.

I live in Minneapolis with my husband Bob and two sweet dogs.
